ANOTHER power cut
- Rob (27th Jan 2014 - 10:12:42)

Yet another power cut in Liphook last night which lasted for about an hour. This happens so frequently. Is the supply in Liphook so fragile its susceptible to almost anything?

Just heard on the radio 70 houses are STILL without power this morning!

The lights in Bramshott were a bit suspect all evening and then it all went dark! The most annoying thing is that the smoke alarms wont stop chirruping and it wakes the children.

Good time to go outside and do a bit of stargazing though

I remember the storm of 1987, which knocked the power out for 10 days, I lived in Malthouse Meadows at the time, my late Mother lived along Midhurst Road, she was without power for two days, we were on different power grids, it appears that we still are, it appears that lessons have not been learnt by the electric companies after that awful storm.

My power in Hewshott went off at 3.30 Sunday and did not come back on until approx 10.pm I had earlier seen an Sse worker on bramshott common doing repair work to the electricity poles. as soon as he left the power went off!

So another weekend and another 2 power cuts. Both times when it rained. Never known anything like it. Still at least there aren't plans to overload the grid even more with loads more houses built. Oh hang on.......

Hi,

Please see the other thread re Power Cuts. Have you informed SSE and made it clear that the cuts are linked to the onset of rain, it would seem that the source of the problem may not be local as many different parts of Liphook and Bramshott are affected - and there are at least 3 separate power feeds into the area.

Peter
