Annual Liphook Charity Bike Ride 8th June 2014
- Liphook & District Businessmen's Association [LiDBA] (5th Apr 2014 - 13:07:06)

The entry forms for the 2014 Charity Bike Ride are now available on the LiDBA Web site www.lidba.co.uk.or follow the link to the left of this page.

The Ride will take place on Sunday 8th June 2014 starting at 10.00 am. The ride commences and finishes at The Bohunt Centre Liphook . A Junior Ride around the sports field commences at 10.30am.
Whilst the Ride is in progress there will be a selection of stalls run by participating charities for the spectators, friends and families of the riders to enjoy whilst the Ride is underway.
The 2014 Ride is the 24th and the route is the same as previous years. It follows the old A3 down to the A272, then along this road to Rogate then turning off to - Borden- Milland- Lynchmere – and then back to the Bohunt Centre a distance of approximately 25 miles. The entire route is sign posted and marshalled, hence the need for adequate numbers to help on this major Liphook event.
If you are interested in “hands on” planning of the Bike Ride up to the 8th June and on the day please contact our Chairman Geoff Goulston on 01428 722357 or email geoff.goulston@lidba.co.uk .

Online entry to the ride closes this Wednesday at 5pm.

You will still be able to enter on the day (cost is £25).

So, if you want to ride on Sunday, pop over to www.lidba.co.uk/entry.shtml and sign up.

Then dust off your bike, check it over and above all remember..

NO HELMET - NO RIDE

Re: Annual Liphook Charity Bike Ride 8th June 2014
- LiDBA (2nd Jun 2014 - 13:53:56)

Arrangements for the Ride are now being finalised in readiness for the Ride this forthcoming Sunday.

On Saturday evening all the direction, warning and information signs will be erected on the route.

Already you no doubt would have noticed the signs warning that The Square will be closed from 9.55 am to approximately 10.20 am. This closure is necessary so that the expected 1000+ riders can negotiate The Square safely as they progress from the Bohunt Centre onto the route following the old A3 down to the A272 junction.

This is quite a spectacle and we recommend that you cheer on the Sponsored riders as they pass by.

At The Bohunt Centre there will be charity stalls and refreshments for members of the public whilst they await the return of the riders.

Re: Annual Liphook Charity Bike Ride 8th June 2014
- LiDBA (4th Jun 2014 - 20:35:24)

The weather forecast for the Ride is dry & sunny and not too hot.
This year looks to be one of the best attended in recent years with more than 1000 riders expected on the Main Ride.
Entries on the day will boost this number and coupled with the Junior Ride we hope to exceed last years total raised for local charities.
Although there will be refreshment stops on the route Riders are encouraged to bring there own drinks to supplement those kindly organised by the Liphook Guides.
Riders are also reminded that their bikes should be in good condition to avoid unnecessary problems. The whole route will be patrolled by recovery vehicles.
All changes in direction on the route will be marshalled.
Best of luck to the Riders and lets hope that your sponsors generously support you.

Well done to the organisers, a job well done, and someone even managed to flatten the hills a bit.

The Bike Ride was blessed with excellent weather although there was a 7 minute delay to the start whilst a road accident at Station Road was cleared [Nothing to do with the Ride] – a few anxious minutes!!

1093 riders took part in the Bike Ride, 925 on the Main Ride and 168 on the Junior Ride around the Bohunt sports field.

53 charities and causes had teams entered, all of which were raising money for their own particular cause.

Many thanks to all of our Marshalls, helpers, Hampshire Police, St John Ambulance, Liphook Guides and Scouts, stall holders and of course the Riders who took part in the Ride.

We now encourage all the Riders to collect their sponsorship money as soon as possible so that the total raised can be collated and published.

The results of the draw are as follows :-

There were 7 prizes.
A £200 voucher from Owen Cycles Petersfield - won by Cherry (Stern ?)

Forest Mere (Champneys) produced an overnight stay for 2 including lunch, dinner and breakfast plus every conceivable means of pampering the body - won by Sue Hill

Old Thorns gave a 4 ball golf day - won by Mr and Mrs Crowhurst

Old Thorns gave a Carvery meal for 2 - won by Nicolas Marengo

Home Farm Slot Car Racing gave a family Slot Car session - won by Pier Collis

Applegarth gave £50 of vouchers - won by Green

Gurkha Durbar Nepalese restaurant in Grayshott gave a meal for 2 won by Doherty

We would like to gently remind the Riders and their sponsors to collect any outstanding sponsorship as soon as possible so that the total raised can be collated and published.

Thank you very much to those who have already forwarded or advised us of the money collected for your charity so far.
