Bramshott & Liphook Parish Plan nearing completion
- Trevor Maroney (6th Apr 2014 - 12:17:26)

The Plan website at www.liphookplan.co.uk has been updated with the latest versions of the Environment and Planning and Development sections. A list of the community's recommendations has also been added to the News Page.

Paper copies of the draft Plan are also available in the Parish Office and the Library.

Your Steering Group will be meeting in the Millennium Centre on Tuesday evenings to discussion suitable solutions to the recommendations. The dates are 22nd & 29th April and 13th May. There is a slight change to the dates advertised in the Press. The planned 15th April meeting has been put back to 13th May as it clashed with EHDC's Forum meeting on the Joint Corps Strategy and future housing in the village.

The Group would welcome comments, ideas and suggestions from parishioners.

I have just read parts of the updated parish plan and am astounded that there is no mention of the amount of traffic that Bohunt brings into the village. As always the Infant and Junior Schools come under fire for creating traffic issues yet there is no mention of the amount of traffic Bohunt creates. Any parent of a Junior or Infant School child will tell you that the congestion and parking issues are considerably eased on the days that Bohunt pupils are not in school.

Overall I think the plan is excellent and will try to make the meeting you have advertised.

Thanks for all of the hardwork that has obviously gone into this document.

Hi Karen, I'm a bit confused as to what you have read. here is the link to the traffic and transport section. t is very comprehensive.

http://www.liphookplan.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/Traffic-Transport-Feb-14-V2.1.pdf

This section looks at the provision of public transport, the flow of traffic through the parish, congestion and parking problems and self-help schemes. It takes into account the community’s views gleamed from surveys and those of the residents who form part of the working group. Traffic surveys, conducted by the HCC Highways Department, were also considered along with the effect that the growth in car ownership, extracted from the census figures, will have on future planned developments.

School Congestion
Midhurst Road Pedestrian Crossing
Station Accessibility
Travel to Hospitals Commuter Parking Public Transport Community Transport
Traffic Calming

Local Traffic Management Cycling

Yes the schools do create an amount of traffic, but what about one of the main culprits, Sainsburys. Day in, day out, seven days a week, people coming from all around the surrounding villages. The car park is full of cars. Nothing on the plan mentions that.

Don't worry Karen, when all the new houses that are meant to be built the traffic will be at a complete stand still and it will be much much quicker to walk to school ;-)

The problem with the square is that it was never intended to cope with the amount of traffic we now have regardless of who or what has generated the traffic. If you look at the francis frith website of old photos of the square in the fifties there is probably one car in the photo. The amount of cars we own now, our lifestyles and our population growth, which needs both schools and cars is to blame, not a traffic system designed around a conservation area, the only solution is to have the centre of Liphook traffic free and create a new way through to the Haslemere Road and longmoor road.

A new Business Section (V2.4) with 3 Appendices has been added to the NEWS page at www.liphookplan.co.uk. This includes a Business Directory, at Appendix C3, showing all registered businesses (those paying business rates). If business owners wish to amend the contents to reflect more accurately the function or services they provide they should do so by the end of this month. Views from the general public would also be greatly appreciated. Please remember that this is the first draft.

We have been unable to conduct a similar survey of those of you who are self-employed and working from home. Should any such person wish to be included in a directory they should provide relevant evidence of their trading position. This information may be left in an envelop at the Parish Office marked for my attention.

CANCELATION

We apologies for any inconvenience that the cancelation of this evenings Parish Plan Steering Group meeting may have caused. The topics for discussion will be considered at our meetings on either 29th March or 13th May 2014.

Chairman BLPP
