Trek in the Sahara - Patrick Moran (23rd Apr 2014 - 08:51:06) Last week, 12-19 April, I completed a 100k Trek in the Sahara Desert to support RP Fighting Blindness (RPFB). I suffer from Retinitis Pigmentosa, a gradual sight loss condition which causes loss of night vision and peripheral vision and remaining central vision will usually fade in mid-life. I joined a party of 21 amazing and inspirational people from across the UK, to walk in temperatures touching 40C over a 5 day period. 17 of the party have Retinitis Pigmentosa and with the terrain being rugged and uncompromising, this proved to be a tough challenge for all. which brought out a true spirit of support and camaraderie. The Trek seeks to raise awareness and funds in finding a cure for Retinitis Pigmentosa.
